Measurement functions
Measurement Functions
  • Measurement functions are dependingon the instrument version (Start orExpert) easily selectable out of the list.
  • SpectroPlate START offers % Dot measurements only.
  • SpectroPlate EXPERT offers additionally Dot Transfer Curve, DotGain Curve and Geometrical Analysis.
Plate type and measurement conditions
Plate Type and Measurement Conditions
Options for SpectroPlate START
  • Plate Type and manufacturer
  • Visible appearance of the plate: Positive/Negative
SpectroPlate EXPERT in addition to START
  • Reference Values (step wedge)
  • Target Values for 4 data sets
  • Tolerances
Plate Types
Plate Types
  • The image algorithms of the instrument have been optimized in accordance to the color of the plate, the coating and the surface structure. Nearly all available plates can be selected out of the list of Plate Types.
  • For not listed plates standard settings are available (plate red, green or blue).
  • Measurements of the geometric dot area can be made on other materials like film or paper.
Reference Values
Reference Values
  • With the EXPERT Version Reference Values can be edited to create the reference table in accordance to the used step wedge.
  • The reference values are used to measure the dot transfer curve and the dot gain curve.
  • 24 reference values can be entered.
  • The reference values can be set in 1% steps and will be shown by numbersand as graph.
Target Values
Target Values
  • In the EXPERT model 4 sets of Target Values are available (Values 1-4).
  • A target value exists for each reference.Target values can be modified ifrequired.
  • This allows an easy comparisonbetween measured value and targetvalue in the dot transfer curve.
  • To simplify the setup of target values itis possible to Save Measurements of a reference plate as Target Values.
Tolerances
Tolerances
  • The EXPERT version offers a table of Tolerances to check with the measurement function Dot Transfer Curve or Dot Gain Curve if the measured values are in or out of a certain tolerance range.
  • For each reference value there is a tolerance value which can be changedindividually in 1% steps.
  • The tolerances are valid for all 4 sets of target values.
Screen Technology
Screen Technology
  • Depending on the type of screenthe right calculation mode hasto be used.
  • AM = conventional screens
  • FM = irrational screens
  • Hybrid = mixture of AM und FM
  • For hybrid screen technologythe setting AM is recommended, the instrument makes FM calculations automatically if necessary
  • With the setting FM no screenruling and screen angle can becalculated.
Device Settings
Device Settings
  • In the device settings following optionsare available:
    1. Info about instrument version
    2. Access to the memory menu *
    3. Calibration of the instrument
    4. Grid on the microscope image
    5. Sound signal on/off
    6. Display contrast adjustment Language selection
    7. Measurement units Metric/Mils*
    8. Setup of Date
    9. Setup of Time
    10. Instrument Software Reset
  • * Only in EXPERT version available.
Memory
Memory
  • SpectroPlate EXPERT has memory space for up to 100 measurements.
  • It is possible to save values manually or automatically, to view memorized values and to delete a selected or all values.
  • Memorized values can be transferred to the computer with the software Spectro Plate Connect.
Calibration
Calibration
  • SpectroPlate is factory-side calibrated. A White Calibration adjusts the digital camera module.
  • The calibration remains permanently and the devices are long-term stable. This means that no re-calibration is necessary.
FOGRA FMB Reference Plate
FOGRA FMB Reference Plate
  • The Screen Calibration is used for exact adjustment of dot percentagemeasurements according to the referenceplate Fogra Measuring Bar FMB.
  • The FMB is available at www.fogra.org.
Average Measurement
Average Measurement
  • In SpectroPlate EXPERT a number between 2 and 9 measurements can be used to calculate an Average value.
  • Start and stop of the average measurement will be activated by the command in the menu.
Zoom Function
Zoom Function
  • With both type of instruments a zoom factor of x1, x2 or x4 can be selected to increase the microscope image.
Sliding Rule
Sliding Rule
  • The sliding rule allows to measure distances between the two cursor lines shown in the display.
  • The two cursor lines can be moved to the desired position by pressing theup and down button.
  • The display indicates the distance inthe selected measurement unit: micrometer or mils.
Dot Transfer Curve
Dot Transfer Curve
  • To measure a complete step wedge thefunction dot transfer curve is used.
  • When taking the first measurement asmall preview of the curve is shown inthe display.
  • After the last measurement it is possible to check all values by movingthe cursor trough the list and graph.
  • The values out of tolerance are marked in the table as well as in the graph.
  • Complete curves can be measured, memorized and transferred later to the software SpectroPlate Connect.
Dot Gain Curve
Dot Gain Curve
  • Another graphic diagram beside the dottransfer curve is the Dot Gain Curve.
  • This type of diagram offers a bettergraph showing the differences between reference and target values.
Geometrical Analysis
Geometrical Analysis
  • The Geometrical Analysis allows measurement of the diameter of a single dot.
  • The smallest and largest diameter of asingle dot is measured allowing tojudge not only round dots.
  • If more than one dot is captured by thecamera then an average value of all dots will be calculated.
