GRIPdigital and Centurfax CCDot4 Dotmeter Honored At GraphExpo 2000.

Western Springs, IL, October 2000—The Centurfax CCDot4 DotMeter—distributed exclusively in North and South America by GRIPdigital—was named a MustSee’Em product at GraphExpo 2000 in Chicago in September. Products receiving the MustSee’Em designation are selected by a panel of impartial printing and converting industry experts, who identify major technological introductions being made at the exhibition. The Centurfax CCDot4 DotMeter, shown for the first time in North America at the show, was the only product honored in the Quality Control Instruments category of the competition. The CCDot4 DotMeter was on display at ten different booths at the show, further testimony to the widespread acceptance of the dotmeter concept as an aid to quality plate production on the latest computer-to-plate devices. Based upon the popular Centurfax CCDot3 DotMeter, the CCDot4 DotMeter employs the latest advances in semiconductor technology. An enhanced LED system enables the machine to read dot areas on any type of offset plate. An optical dot gain evaluation feature permits reading dots on paper, and compensates for the absorption properties of the substrate and any dot halo effect to simultaneously provide true physical and true visual measurement. This feature means that complex algorithms are no longer necessary to convert density to percentages. The CCDot4 DotMeter may be upgraded by customers via the Internet, and additional features may be added to existing units by obtaining the appropriate security code. Key features of predecessor Centurfax CCDot units have been retained, including autocalibration, WYSIWYG viewing, connections to both PCs and Macs, and screen ruling and screen angle analysis.
