Western Springs, IL, April 2000—GRIPdigital—the exclusive distributor in North and South America for the Centurfax CCDot DotMeter® product line—has announced the availability of the FlexoDot, the world’s only self-contained handheld device for measuring absolute dot values on flexographic printing media. Based upon the award-winning Centurfax CCDot digital DotMeter, the FlexoDot utilizes a revolutionary surface sensing technology based on recent optical developments in the medical industry. The first prototype of the FlexoDot was nominated for a Technical Innovations Award in a major flexographic trade publication.

The Centurfax FlexoDot unit is a reflective device, and thus can be used anywhere, without a light table. The unit works equally effectively on metal backed and capped flexo plates. Unlike other devices which read flexographic plates, the Centurfax FlexoDot does not require powerful tabletop computers or software to interpret data. The FlexoDot viewing system produces a true, positive black image of dots; all data can be read on the FlexoDot integral display screen. Repeatable results can be obtained anywhere on the plate.

The Centurfax FlexoDot will be introduced at DRUPA 2000, and will be available in North and South America midyear.
